A game with two teams of similar ability, but Colts showing more grit and determination than Ajax.
From the beginning Zeall made some probing runs up the right wing and was unlucky to score with a seventh minute shot being well saved.
After twenty minutes Colts scored from a goal mouth scramble following a corner, and just four minutes later a defensive mix up between goalkeeper and captain let Colts score again.
The first ten minutes of the second half saw Ajax overwhelm the Colts, but without reward. This was followed by another Colts breakaway resulting in goal number three.
A miss-timed Ajax tackle five minutes later took the score to 4-0 from the penalty spot.
Williams scored a consolation goal, again in the dying seconds, directly from an in swinging corner.
Some doubtful refereeing decisions, and bad luck, do not really justify the 4-1 score line.
